Experience/Background

A member of the Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York Bars, Mr. Madden founded his Rhode Island law practice in Providence in 2001. Tom was Judge Lagueux's first summer clerk in Federal District Court in Rhode Island. He began his legal career nearly two decades ago in New York with the law firm of Donovan, Leisure, Newton & Irvine. With experience in business start-ups, corporate transactions, business and public finance, securities law and nonprofit organizations law, Tom conducts a general business law practice. Tom has further experience with software licensing negotiation and agreements, web development contracts, copyright and trademark issues and registration. He also has experience with employment and consulting agreements and employee policies and practices. His clients range from home-based startups to large institutions.

Mr. Madden resides with his wife and three children in his hometown of Warwick, Rhode Island.

Admitted in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York, Mr. Madden is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association Committee on Ethics and Professionalism (2000-present), delegate to the Bar elected 2003 and member of the Rhode Island Bar Journal Editorial Board (2004-present); member of the Boston Bar Association, Committee on Mergers & Acquisitions (2008-present); member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, Committee on Professional and Judicial Ethics (1997-1999), Committee on Securities Regulation (1999-2000), Council on International Affairs (1999-2000); member of the American Bar Association Business Law Section (Committees on Small Business, Nonprofit Corporations and Federal Regulation of Securities) and Intellectual Property Law Section; member of the Greater Providence Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce; member of the board of directors of the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce; member of the Smaller Business Association of New England; member of the TechCollective; president of the Trinity College Club of Rhode Island; Chairman of the Toll Gate High School Class of 1982 20th Year Reunion Committee; a PSI Class 2003 graduate of Leadership Rhode Island; Chair of the LRI Alumni Task Force and member of the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Providence and the Providence Rotary Foundation.
